On the morning of May 30th, Nanfang Nonferrous Metals Group, in collaboration with the Nanning Branch of China Minsheng Bank, carried out an educational assistance donation and "June 1st" Children's Day celebration at Lile Primary School in Bawu Yao Township, Nandan County. Attending the event were leaders including Wu Zhenru, County Magistrate of the People's Government of Nandan County; Yan Xinguo, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Nanning Branch of China Minsheng Bank; Zhou Nanfang, Chairman of Nanfang Nonferrous Metals Group; Zheng Yongxiang, General Manager; and Liu Jianping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the group.
"Benefiting Others, Benefiting Oneself; Learning Joyfully, Thinking Creatively."
Lile Primary School, located 38 kilometers from Nandan County seat and surrounded by endless mountains, serves students from the White Trouser Yao ethnic minority, who live scattered in remote mountainous areas. Due to harsh geographical conditions, children spend 2–4 hours daily walking on rugged mountain paths to and from school. In its early days, the school operated out of makeshift classrooms in farmhouses and village offices, with unstable facilities and compromised teaching quality.
In July 2003, to address classroom shortages and boarding needs, Chairman Zhou Nanfang and his foreign friend Mr. Singh jointly donated 700,000 yuan to build a comprehensive teaching and boarding complex, fundamentally resolving the challenges of accessing education. Over the past 21 years, Chairman Zhou has continuously supported the school by equipping multimedia teaching devices, improving dormitory infrastructure, and annually providing supplies like quilts, uniforms, and footwear. During festivals, students receive gifts, and hundreds of kilograms of fresh pork are delivered monthly to the school cafeteria. To broaden students' horizons, the Nanfang Talent Class regularly organizes teaching support activities and factory visits for the children.
In early 2023, upon learning that the school's existing building could no longer meet educational needs, Chairman Zhou invested an additional 5.26 million yuan to construct a new five - story teaching complex spanning 1,800 square meters, featuring 15 classrooms, a sports field, and 配套 facilities. Slated for completion in late 2023, the project will restore the school to a full - scale primary school, enabling Yao children to attend school locally.
At 10:30 a.m., the donation ceremony and Children's Day event commenced. First, Mo Zhongyu, Principal of Bawu Yao Township Central Primary School, expressed gratitude to the Nandan County Party Committee, the People's Government, the Nanning Branch of China Minsheng Bank, and Nanfang Nonferrous Metals Group for their support. He highlighted the school's transformation and pledged to nurture more grateful and high - achieving Yao students.
In his speech, Chairman Zhou Nanfang emphasized, "May you study joyfully and grow healthily. Happy Children's Day!" He praised teachers for their dedication in remote areas and reaffirmed the company's commitment to educational equity, stating, "Education changes destinies. Through these efforts, we aim to empower Yao children with better learning conditions, 照亮 their futures, and inspire them to become confident ambassadors of love."
Yan Xinguo, President of the Nanning Branch of China Minsheng Bank, linked the symbolic red scarf to national pride, urging students to "carry forward its spirit, study diligently, and repay society with gratitude."
Wu Zhenru, County Magistrate, commended the partners' philanthropic spirit, noting, "This donation not only supports Nandan's education but also sets an exemplary model of corporate social responsibility."
During the event, the Nanning Branch of China Minsheng Bank and Nanfang Nonferrous Metals Group donated stationery, books, uniforms, and supplies. In return, students presented guests with traditional White Trouser Yao belts symbolizing good fortune. Performances included gratitude dances, recitations, and a financial literacy workshop by bank staff.
Following the ceremony, guests shared a meal with students, celebrating the festival together.
"When the youth are wise, the nation is wise; when the youth are strong, the nation is strong."
Nanfang Nonferrous Metals Group remains dedicated to providing educational and technical support to Lile Primary School, striving to deliver high - quality education to mountainous regions. Through these efforts, the company aims to contribute to local economic development, ethnic unity, rural revitalization, and cultural progress.
